Aikido of South Brooklyn provides traditional aikido practice for adults and children. It is part of Mind Body Arts, Inc., an arts and cultural service provider devoted to spreading traditional martial arts. Josh Paul Sensei founded Mind Body Arts and Aikido of South Brooklyn in 2011. Both are members of the Aikido World Alliance, which is headed by Andrew Sato Sensei, rokudan (sixth-degree black belt).


Pau
l Sensei has more than a decade’s experience practicing and teaching aikido and is an aspiring full-time aikido teacher. He began training with Joseph Jarman Sensei at Jikishinkan Aikido Dojo, Brooklyn, NY, where he taught adult classes and was the director of the youth program until founding Aikido of South Brooklyn. Through MBA and other organizations, he teaches aikido in NYC public schools, bringing aikido to elementary and high school students, students with autism and other disabilities, and at-risk teenagers. He has published multiple articles about his teaching experiences and methods. Off the mat, Paul Sensei is a freelance writer and classical guitarist.


Paul Sensei is ranked as sandan (third-degree black belt) Aikikai and received instructor certification (shidoin) from the Aikido World Alliance. He is also a shodan (black belt) in shindo muso ryu jodo, a classical Japanese martial art of staff and sword.
